Stroke is on of the killer disease. We should know the signs and the sympthoms of stroke. Watch for these signs and symptoms if you think you or someone else may be having a stroke. Note when your signs and symptoms begin, because the length of time they have been present may guide your treatment decisions.

• Trouble with walking. You may stumble or experience sudden dizziness, loss of balance or loss of coordination.

• Trouble with speaking and understanding. You may experience confusion. You may slur your words or have difficulty understanding speech.

• Paralysis or numbness of the face, arm or leg. You may develop sudden numbness, weakness or paralysis in your face, arm or leg, especially on one side of your body. Try to raise both your arms over your head at the same time. If one arm begins to fall, you may be having a stroke. Similarly, one side of your mouth may droop when you try to smile.

• Trouble with seeing in one or both eyes. You may suddenly have blurred or blackened vision in one or both eyes, or you may see double.

• Headache. A sudden, severe headache, which may be accompanied by vomiting, dizziness or altered consciousness, may indicate you're having a stroke.

In the past couple of years, people in their productive age are reported to be susceptible to stroke. The seriousness of the attacks varies from one person to another since the triggering factor may also be different. Unfortunately, most young professionals are not aware of this health risk. The drive for success and on-going achievement has resulted in hard working habit which makes 40 hours a week work load is not enough. According to a Dutch study that involved more than 20,000 participants with the age of around 20 to 65 -- eating adequate vegetables and white-fleshed fruits may give a significant contribution to cut the risk of developing a stroke.

There are about 700,000 individuals or more in the U.S who suffer a stroke /year, which about 2/3 of them survive and need rehabilitation. Stroke recovery timeline is a lifelong process. The goal of the rehabilitation is purposed to help patients attain the greatest level of having good quality of life, and to make them become as independent as possible by improving emotional, mental, & physical functions. It is also intended to help survivors attain the best possible long-term outcome.

Transient ischemic attack (TIA) or also familiar known as ‘mini stroke’ is one of types of stroke. A temporary deficiency in blood supply to the brain is the reason why TIA can occur. Since the decreased blood supply is temporary, the mini stroke symptoms are usually also not lasting.
