What is morning sickness? It is one of the most popular early signs of pregnancy, which can be the toughest part of early pregnancy in the 1-st trimester. It is also usually referred to ‘NVP or nausea and vomiting in pregnancy’. Nevertheless, there are also a few women with pregnancy that don’t experience it, but almost 50-80 percent experiences it.
So, what are the causes of morning sickness?
Unfortunately, the causes of morning sickness are still not known for sure, but the causes are usually linked to increasing estrogen along with the hormones of pregnancy. And the following are some possible common causes:
- Like mentioned before, the increasing estrogen when you are pregnant is one of the most major causes! The estrogen level can rise significantly in rapid amounts, particularly in the early stage of pregnancy (in the 1-st trimester), which may cause short-term vomiting & nausea. Moreover, the increasing level of estrogen may also heighten your sense of smell.
- The rising level of human chorionic gonadotrophin ‘HCG (a hormone that is produced after conception), which may also contribute to cause vomiting and nausea!
- And morning sickness also may caused by the rising level of progesterone hormone (can trigger gastric problems), nutritional deficiency (particularly lack of B6 vitamin that eventually also may cause NVP), psychological influences (the body of women with pregnancy may respond the negative feelings or stress due to pregnancy), and the adaptation of the body of women with pregnancy to protect the baby (especially from the food poisoning).
Symptoms of morning sickness!
There are several symptoms or signs that can indicate women with pregnancy have a morning sickness, but mostly for a normal condition, the symptoms of morning sickness are dominated by nausea, vomiting or you may feel a mild dizzy.
These symptoms should improve as the progresses of the pregnancy, which eventually in many cases will disappear by 3rd month of the pregnancy.
But sometimes, there are also some serious symptoms which mean you have to contact your doctor or nurse-midwife immediately, such as; you get dark-coloured urine, cannot keep fluids or foods for 24 hours, get vomit blood, get fever with high temperature (100.4 degrees of Fahrenheit or 37-38 degrees of Celsius), severe vomiting, severe dizzy & so weak, get a significantly rising heart rate, get abdominal pain, etc.
