How to Stop or Quit Smoking?

We all completely and clearly understand that smoking is not good for our health. But there are still a lot of people (either men or women) who are addicted to tobacco and they feel so difficult to stop or quit from smoking. 

You have to trust on your ability to quit, use professional help if necessary!

Like written in the previous article, there are numerous hazards of smoking that can lead to disorders and diseases. Therefore, it is much better to quit smoking as earlier as possible.

On the other hand, you will get a lot of advantages of quitting, below are some of those benefits:
  1. Within days after quitting, you will get better performance of the blood vessels of your body, which eventually will promote better health for your entire body.
  2. Within weeks after quitting, you will be better to taste the flavor of your favorite foods.
  3. You will give a significant contribution for your body to lower the risk of lung cancer and heart attack. Moreover, the function of your lung organ will be better to work within a year and any chronic bronchitis will be minimized and reduced several months after stopping from smoking.
  4. Regardless of age, smokers who are successfully on quitting from smoking will live longer than if compared to smokers who cannot quit (continue to smoke).

  1. First, begin your quitting smoking project by creating a list about any reasons why you have to stop smoking, so thus you will be more motivated to reach the goal of your quitting project.
  2. Then choose the right or special date to start your quitting project! You can choose your birthday date, 3-rd November (American smoke-out event), etc! After deciding your special date, then stick to it!
  3. Be always positive thinking that you will able to stop smoking.
  4. For the present, avoid any holiday events or groups that invite or involve to smoke-filled parties!
  5. Join to group or other smokers of your family that also have quitting smoking project! This positive environment will be helpful for you to be more motivated so thus you will reach your goal of your quitting project more easily.
  6. Make more comfortable while you are far way from tobacco and you have to wise up how much smoking stinks! Clean your teeth with special toothpaste that will help to remove the tobacco flavor! As the quit-date approaches, clean also clothes, house, and throw away ashtrays if necessary.
  7. You can try to do yoga if necessary in order to make you will be able to better control your emotion.
  8. Be careful in 1-3 weeks after you quit, you may fell discomfort withdrawal symptoms (like headache, restlessness, irritability, anxiety, cannot sleep easily in the night (insomnia), grumpiness, etc) then these symptoms gradually diminish. To minimize these uncomfortable symptoms, you should keep your mouth busy, like by consuming sugarless gum or low calorie snacks. Be creative with other enjoyable diversions in order to make your mind busy!
  9. Plan a proper exercise program in order to keep your body fit, maintain your weight and also will be helpful to promote good sleep. Start from the easiest exercise, like walking exercise in the morning or evening at least a half hour a day.
  10. In order to make you be more motivated, reward your successful quitting-project by buying a special treat with the money that usually you spent to buy cigarettes! Don’t even think to try smoking although you may think for ‘just one’!
