Meditations and relaxation techniques are some of popular choices when talking and discussing about natural remedies for anxiety disorders! Some people believe that meditations are more effective than relaxation techniques to treat and minimize the anxiety disorder symptoms! But in 2006, a new study suggest that both meditation and relaxation techniques are equally to ease anxiety disorders -- according to a published article in WebMD.

The study compared between meditation and other techniques of relaxation, which include transcendental meditation vs. EMG biofeedback and mindfulness meditation vs. Kundalini yoga! This study found that both therapies were equally to give positive effects for people with anxiety disorders.
In particular, the study’s results showed:
- Overall, all techniques gave positive effects for participants to improve their symptoms of distress and current mood! But didn’t give a significant effect to improve their sleep disturbances!
- All techniques also gave positive effects on improving family relations, work relations, and social functions -- but didn’t help enough to improve sex life (marital relations).
- Participants who did Kundalini yoga had better scores on improving their stress, but this technique is less effective if compared to mindful meditation in treating OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorders)!
Furthermore, 33-44 percent of participants that practiced meditation dropped out! This may explain that individuals with anxiety disorders may experience a hard time (hard moment) sticking to a meditation regimen. Therefore, there should be more studies and researches to find the best role of meditation for the treatment of anxiety disorders.

- It is so important for people with anxiety disorder to get to know any possible factors that can worse their anxiety disorder. After knowing these factors, then make a plan for dealing with them! For instance, if you are worrying constantly about finance problems, you should have saving plan or you should set up your budget as well!
- Avoid thinking your past problems! Get more with the present concerns that can make you be more comfortable!
- Give more attention for your body and be kind with your body, which may include: do vigorous massage or exercise, learn more about a relaxation technique that you like and get adequate ‘rest & sleep’. Don’t forget to stay away from nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol which may increase the level of your anxiety disorder!
- Be friendly with friendly things, like get a vacation, hiking with your best friends, or plan your day as well.
- Join to a social group, so thus you can do more activities every day. Being alone is so bad for people with anxiety disorder!
- Don’t forget to explore more any resources in your community that can be helpful for your anxiety disorder treatments.
